Missouri Arts Council Strategic Grants


The Missouri Arts Council, a state agency, provides support to nonprofit organizations through grants. The purpose is to provide funding to communities throughout Missouri that supports the Missouri Arts Council strategic goals of increasing arts participation, growing Missouri’s economy, and strengthening Missouri’s education using the arts.

Monthly Strategic Grants
Deadline: First Monday of Each Month

Applicants may receive no more than 2 of the following monthly grants per FY: community touring, capacity building, folk arts, minority arts

Monthly Strategic

$1,250

Supports smaller arts projects with a simpler application.

Arts Education

$2,000

Supports up to one of artist in residence, out of school, and professionaldevelopment grantsPLUS one school touring grant ($1,000).

Big Yellow School Bus

Up to $300

Supports transportation costs for school field trips to MAC-supported arts programs.

Capacity Building

Up to $2,500 depending on project. One $2,500 app per FY

Supports projects to improve capacity for arts organizations including conference attendance, consultants or contractors, and software and equipment purchase.

Community Arts Basic

$2,000

Provides project support to non-metropolitan community arts agencies offering multidisciplinary programs.

Minority Arts

$2,000

Provides support for arts projects created by and/or targeted to African-American, Asian American, Latino/Hispanic and Native American communities.

Touring

$3,000 or 60% of artist fee
One grant per applicant

Enables communities to present the artists on MAC’s Missouri Touring Performers roster and allow those artists to perform in Missouri communities.

Arts Education

$7,500

Supports artist in residence, out of school, and professional development programs in schools.

Arts Services

Varies, by invitation only

Supports organizations that provide services to artists or arts organizations in Missouri.

Community Arts

$20,000 - $35,000

Provides project and operating support to non-metropolitan community arts agencies offering multidisciplinary programs.

Established Institutions

$300,000

Provides operating support for established arts institutions with an annual budget > $2 million.

Folk Arts

$30,000

Provides support for the traditional folk arts of Missouri.

Discipline

$30,000

Provides support to larger and ongoing arts projects.

Mid-Sized Arts Organizations

$50,000

Provides operating support for mid-sized arts organizations with an annual budget > $500,000.

* The request amount must be matched and may be no more than 50% of the total budget.

* Grant programs are subject to change due to budget restrictions.
